The Hoonah Native Forest Partnership (HNFP) is a science based, landscape scale community forest approach to watershed planning and project implementation with a goal of creating a blend of timber, salmon and deer production, local economic diversity and improved watershed conditions.
Partners include Sealaska, Huna Totem, Hoonah Indian Association, The City of Hoonah, The Nature Conservancy, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Subsistence Division and the US Forest Service.
The HNFP project is funded for four years by the NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program.
NetMap is being used with high resolution digital elevation models (DEMs, LiDAR) to create the virtual riverine-watershed environment that will underpin watershed to landscape scale analyses in support of the HNFP project. Learn more.
