Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Transmission Line Risks

TerrainWorks, in partnership with West Fork Environmental, is using NetMap to conduct an analysis of environmental risk involving 600 stream crossing for a proposed transmission line across a portion of southwest Washington. NetMap's virtual watershed and smart synthetic river networks will be used to consider:

  • channel types, including flow condition
  • proximity to fish bearing streams
  • slope stability, including shallow landsliding and debris flows
  • channelization
  • shade-thermal energy
  • surface erosion potential and delivery to streams
  • in-stream wood recruitment and mitigation
  • road related concerns

West Fork Environmental will develop a transmission line - stream crossing classification system to aid in managing and mitigating risks.
