Ecosystem Services

Ecosystem Services refers to the benefits of the natural environment for human requirements of survival and less tangible benefits such as aethetics. One aspect of ecosystem services places monetary value on natural processes and landforms (rivers, clean water, clean air etc.) and thus allows nature to compete on a more level playing field in the realm of human economics.

See how the Ecosystem Service Evaluation platform ARIES can be coupled to NetMap's virtual watershed.

TerrainWorks (NetMap) Digital Landscapes and tools could be used to better quantify and map various types of ecosystem services, such as the quality and quantity of fish habitats, absence (or presence) of erosion and sedimentation, wildfire impacts on habitats and climate change implications.
